Advice and Observations

Well, TMA 05 is completed and submitted. I only have the EMA (End of Module Assignment) to complete before May 21. Before I move on to Common Law and Civil Law, I want to comment on a couple of things.

I notice that this blog gets quite a high number of hits on a daily basis, so I infer that it might be useful for some law students (or even lay-persons) to understand law better. I’ll try to write in a  non-legal way. Also, I will stick mainly to the Open University materials but strengthen this with external sources (properly referenced of course!) where I can see explanations and examples are more appropriate (see my posts on rules of interpretation). It’s also for my learning, remember? (^_~)

I will be revising my study materials and updating this blog more often when I am between modules, i.e between June and October. It may be late for some of the current student but ought to be helpful for those a year behind me… in other words, those starting W101 or the Q79 LLB in October 2015.

As for those who are wondering why they should read my blog, I’m not saying you should, but at the moment, I’m losing only about 2 to 6 marks per question. If you work it out, you will note that my grades are thus well in the upper 25% range. I do still have health problems… one doesn’t just run a marathon after a heart attack. My learning is a fierce balance between good days and bad days but I’m trying. I’ll answer any reasonable questions of course.

I must say I had to implement some safety on the blog. I require those who wish to comment to sign up to Disqus… I like the commenting system and it helps block spam. Spam was becoming a major problem… I had something like 1300 ‘comments’ in a couple of weeks. Took me a long time to weed them out. I’d rather spend that time writing helpful posts. So, if you really want to say something, use the proper commenting system or the email. I’d love to hear from genuine readers; it helps to encourage me as well.
